Doyen Institute of Intelligence and Investigations marks 13th graduation ceremony in style.

The Doyen Institute of Intelligence and Investigations, Africa's Premiere Security Centre of Excellence,established in 2018 to bridge the educational gap in Africa and enhance the skills of law enforcement and intelligence officers’ counter measures when it came to investigations and gathering intelligence have held their 13th graduation ceremony in a very orderly manner and grand style depicting the core values that the institute stands for, at the Alisa Hotel, North Ridge, Accra.

The ceremony, which was attended by scores of security professionals, conferred certificates and professional diplomas on  graduands from Ghana and other national, such as Nigeria, Southern Sudan and Botswana in the areas of intelligence and investigations, was also used to emphasize on the impact of intelligence and investigations in law enforcement.

In his speech, Mr. Adib Saani,The Executive Director, Jatikay Centre for Human Security and Peace-building, admonished the graduands to make an impact with their knowledge in investigative skills, calling on them to exhibit a high level of professionalism, a sense of sincerity and integrity at all times with neutrality and objectivity.

Mr. Richard Kumadoe, A Security and Fraud Consultant, Lecturer of Doyen Institute of Intelligence and Investigations, spoke on the need for graduands to inspire the next generation with values of simplicity, commitment to service, precision, creativity and objectivity, coupled with integrity.

Mr. Kumadoe, entreated the graduands not to be armchair investigators. Indicating that " Inspiration is the best you can. Instead of becoming an icon, become an inspiration"

"You can not be an investigator if you think you are invisible and untouchable".

Representing the Guest of Honour and keynote speaker for the ceremony, the Inspector General of Police, George Akuffo Dampare, was

COP. Edward Tabiri, who engaged the audience on the role of professionalism in effective policing in Africa, stipulated that Africa is lacking behind when it come to democratic policing,

quoting Glover Cleveland that 

" Public Officers are servants and agents of the people to execute the laws which the people have made "

COP. Tabiri, said that, people do not have to join the police because they don't have jobs. 

People who join the noble police  profession must have passion, flair, anxiety, inspiration and a commitment to service.

Adding that, some people join the police service just to enrich themselves and we allow it. 

" we don't police ourselves "

" If you are a professional, you see every human being as one. One thing a police officer can do is to love everybody as a Ghanian and human human being".

"Offices serve society, society does not serve us".

He indicated that for Democratic policing to prevail in Africa, officers must have respect for cultural dynamics, be proficient in both technical and communication skills, exhibiting trustworthiness, courageousness, humaneness, honesty, tolerance and self discipline, devoid of arbitrariness, abuse of human rights, political partisanship and tribalism.

The Executive Director of the Institute, Mr. George Dosoo Doyen, indicated how far the institution has gone to become  Africa premiere security, intelligence and investigation institute, with inroads in several African countries, raising the flag of Ghana, adding that Ghana must be proud of this achievement. Addressing the graduands, 

Mr. Doyen exclaimed the need and importance of absolute professionalism in the security sector.

Adding that, party politics have no room in the security operations.

He concluded by saying " I don't want the knowledge you have acquired go waste, transform units and institutions".
